      @@mowgliadventures5773 so why can’t I use it in Australia you know all I need to do is step down our 240 Volts to 120 Volts on the input and on the output step up the 120 Volts to 240 Volts will that work?

      @@corkystephan5073 yes it would, if you can get Renogy to sell you one. Of course stepping up and down voltages will introduce a loss of energy.

    At 2:24 you mention an asterisk and an assumption it relates to 48V not being available with LifePO. Was this asterisk in he manual? I realize this review is over a year old so just wondering if Renogy has made an update as all marketing and the manual for current model don't indicate that 48V is not compatible with LifePO. Cheers.

    To use the controller parallel port if you have two of these controllers. First decide which controller is going to be your Primary and which the Slave. Only set the Primary to the days you want between Equalizations and the slave to Zero if setting is being used. In settings Menu go to Address and set the Primary to 1 and Slave to 2 or whichever numbers you desire as long as the Primary is a lower number than the Slave. Remove both green port connectors, ignore the first wire connecting point (on the left), manual shows which is which. Then wire each of the remaining connecting points to each of the connectors, 2 to 2, 3 to 3 and 4 to 4. Reconnect them to the controllers, Primary first. Then go into Settings Menu to the 485 setting (very last setting in menu) and switch from Communication to Parallel Charge, again Primary first. The charging arrows on the slave should now be Clear and the Primary remain Solid. I found disconnecting from panels and battery then reconnecting helps if the arrows have not changed on the Slave. But turn the Primary back on first. When in equalisation mode both controllers will be now synced together. I do have 3 of these and tried wiring all 3 together but does not seem to work.

    The Renogy 100 amp MPPT solar controller is good for Lithium 48 V for sure. The setting are olso on the DC HOME app !I’ve been running mine now for over a year. The extendable Bluetooth with its cable is also wicked in the respect that you could have it outside of your powerhouse or motor home to get the data from a distance, specially on your phone App .Mines is a off grid home system and i have 48 volt 200 amp ! Thanks for your time

    I don’t understand why these things exist o why they are so large. Renogy’s inverters have the same conduits switch and I can carry an ac battery charger for less than 1/6 the weight. Do you think these are made for off grid home living rather than mobile living? Throw in grounding to the chassis…why? Your vehicle is grounded to nothing other than the starter battery. The tutted see to that. Surely all grounding 120/240v to the chassis does is allow frying of sensitive ecu’s in your engine. Please correct where I am mistaken, I am no expert.

    • @mowgliadventures5773
      @mowgliadventures5773 7 місяців тому

      If the inverter-charger is set for the AC output will come from the battery bank and the generator will be used to "charge" the battery. If The unit is set to , the generator will supply the Unit AC output and any spare energy will go to charging the battery.@@KODIAKJAYMZ

    A poor imitation of a Cerbo for not a lot less money. What it lacks is useful features such as resistive load monitoring e.g water tanks which on a motor caravan would be very handy. I guess they have this focused on home use rather than in a motor caravan I am not sure is any zigbee gadgets offer resistive tank monitoring? I have bought the one core and already realised to get the functionality I need will probably require buying something else like the Cerbo and then transitioning away from my existing Renogy stuff. In the meantime I use it with my good Rover 40 and via BT to the inaccurate Soc info in my 200Ah battery What I want to do is monitor water tanks!

    Hi there, First I'd like to say I enjoyed the content of your video, There was one issue I found, the level of the music compared to your speech, can I suggest you run your audio through a 'normalize' process, to help get your voice level to the same as the LOUD music, so those of us with sound systems don't get deafened when we turn up the volume to hear you! It's an easy thing to do, and certainly improves the production quality of any video. As long and you can seperate the audio from your video you can nomalize for free in Audacity. Here's a short video on how to do it with examples. ua-cam.com/video/1KrW7BvEEfI/v-deo.html

    Anderson terminals won't work! In so many setups the DCDC is as far from the motor battery as almost 6 meters, 35mm2 (2AWG) cables are used, anderson support per pole 120ah for a cross section ranging from 16 to 6 AWG. With these anderson adapters they wanted to make people's lives easier but they complicated it. Or i'm wrong?

    • @mowgliadventures5773
      @mowgliadventures5773 8 місяців тому

      The current output/input from this unit is max 60a. 8 AWG is the max wire size for a P75 connector, and over longer distances ( +6m), you might lose 10% of energy for the period that 60 amps is flowing. Using an anderson connector is an easier installation.

    Last year, during the time when we were told to expect power outages, I decided to invest in a small indoor solar system just to supplement the running of our fridge freezer, just in case. I decided to purchase 4 x 100w panels, 40amp MPPT Rover, 12v 200amp lithium battery and 2000w SWI which works very well, so much so that my son now runs his PC from the system. I opted for a parallel set up as shade would be on part of a panel during the day, and I have to say, I really please with this simple system, so much so I have now put a little 100w system into two 150amp batteries for lighting, and that works great also. Just subbed as your explanations are so easy to follow and I look forward to binge watching over the next couple of days.

    My experience: Within 1 week of 20a dc-dc charging at about freezing (32F) temps, the self heating function seems to have broken. Renogy says I have to warm up the batteries first before the heating will turn on (no, I'm not kidding)

    • @mowgliadventures5773
      @mowgliadventures5773 9 місяців тому

      Yes, I know, lithium batteries don't like cold temperatures. The heater kicks in at 5*c until the battery reaches 10*C. In cold weather like now, I also need to put a heater in the van to warm the battery and take charge, even though it is inside the main living area. It is a limitation we have to work around. If you travel to extreme locations regularly, as I have previously, you should return to GEL-type batteries.

    you hang them vertical for the heat to disperse easier, having it flat would heat the electronics which is not a good idea. Thx for the review, i am in the process of buying this for my renogy 2x 200watt flexy panels.

      I agree, 'hang it vertically or horizontally, but NOT FLAT' at 5:42. Yes it helps with heat dispersion, but to also try and provide a little more water splash or condensation protection from any drips not resting on the front of the unit and display screen. Good luck with the new set up, the (Voc): 23.9V on those will allow both panels to be wired in series if you want to.

    Hey boss. Ive had this unit for maybe 6 months or so now. Right now ive got 6- 12v 100w pannels hooked up to it. But im not getting nearly as many watts output under full sunlight. Some sugest my wires are too small. Im thinking of ordering 2 more panel and wiring them 2 sets of 4 so 48v 200w. This is all still safe to do with this charge controller going to my 12v 300ah battery bank correct?

      @mowgliadventures5773 so right now my 6 12v 100w have produced a max of 360-370w all wired in parallel. And that's in full sunlight in July. I would assume being a 12v 600w system in full sunlight I would at least see 500w entering the charge controller. But even the smallest things like battery chargers and 12v lights seem to start pulling from my battery bank during full sun

      So it might be wires sizes from the joined array to the Mppt, they will restrict the energy flow. I reckon 25mm2 (4awg) for a 4m run to Mppt & circa 50a fuse. From the mppt to the battery 16mm2 (6awg) at 1 meter length with 60amp fuse. @@brandonshepherd3317

    • @mowgliadventures5773
      @mowgliadventures5773 10 місяців тому

      I am not sure what you mean. Low L load cut-off from the battery to the load circuits would be a separate unit. If you mean, the house battery is low and the starter battery is low. It only operates once either battery has reached a prescribed voltage. Only then will it operate to supply the other battery as long as the supplying battery has sufficient voltage.

      @@mowgliadventures5773 traditionally this is done by the solar controller, so this should be pointed out as its easily missed that they left this circuit and output terminals out of this design, to save money and because its maybe less needed with people direct wiring their inverters to the battery and li batteries having a low voltage bms cutout. but if you are running lead, and small loads, or want a configurable LVD than this charger doesnt do that.

      I am sorry for my confusion. I thought we were talking about something else.🥴🥴 This MPPT controller has Built-in Bluetooth, which allows you to monitor the REGO charge controller on your smartphone with the Renogy DC Home App and on the Renogy One M1 display unit if fitted. Correct, it does not have a Load connection, like many other Mppt controllers, but I have said in many videos on solar controllers I do not see a sensible use for this function. You may have a use. This unit does have multiple battery type selections, and the user a configurable setting, too. Battery low voltage cut off is by the Renogy LI battery BMS. AS for other battery types, you will need to buy a separate unit. Victron have one, and I don't think Renogy does.

    I have 2 of these Rover 60 amp units charging my 24 volt LFP batteries. Each has its own string of 1600 watt panels. For a year I have been using the 120 amp Growatt MPPT with 2 solar input channels. I never saw any more than 60 amps from it. It burned out last week and I installed the pair of Rovers. Wow, I saw one at 55 amps and the other at 48 amps today, 2.4KW on the panel meter. The amazing thing was that there was still charge showing on each of around 25 to 30 watts each near sundown. Not much, but I am impressed at how long they keep charging as the sun goes down. The Growatt has been shutting down at 2:30 in the afternoon. Today, the Rovers were still outputting at 5:30, a little over an amp. I am impressed with them!

      Looking at using these to charge our 48 volt Absolyte GX battery bank. I would be interested in seeing how you set up your 24 volt system and what type of equipment (panels, inverter) you are operating on! We are starting with an Conext SW4048 prewired system with Outback Controller. I would like to push as much power into the battery bank (2,000 amp hour) that we are able. We are located in Northern Nevada and hope to use very limited generator power (fully off grid).

    • @kimmer6
      @kimmer6 7 місяців тому

      @@rongray4118 Mine is a home made system. It has a dozen Chins 300 amp hour batteries in a cabinet/console that has several inverters on its top shelf. 3600 amp hours currently. The main inverter is a Sungoldpower 6000 watt split phase heavy duty low frequency unit. There are 2 other 3000 watt WZRELB high frequency inverters to run low load circuits running chest freezers 24/7. These have low parasitic loss compared to the 6000 watt inverter charger's 86 constant watt draw. The 2 Renogy 60 amp MPPT's are on 2 separate solar strings with the lightning arrestors and fuses up by the roof and a pair of 100 amp switches that can disconnect either or both of the inputs to the solar chargers on the console. There are times when the battery pack is at 100% and I shut down one or both charge controllers until the system gets down to 70%, then maybe turn one back on. The loads are all over the map and as the seasons change, there are times that all solar input is appreciated...November through February. The 2 panel face the sun at different times and having 2 charge control units maximizes the input from each. These are dual face panels somewhere around 400 watts, new, left over from a friend's project that never got built. Less than ideal for me, but these happen to be just at the very edge of the Renogy input specs for June/July sun without overpaneling the charge controllers. There are also a pair of Aims 24 volt battery chargers on the panel that can be powered up by 120 volt generators for 70 amps total output. The Sungoldpower 6000 watt can be used as a charger but needs the 240 volt output of the Onan diesel generator as a source, loud and stinky, used as a last resort if needed. I think it charges at 90 amps. I built a bunch of smaller systems for family, friends for their RV's and my camper van. The Renogy MPPT charge controllers, inverters, DC-DC chargers, and battery meters have been really reliable in the last few years for me. Another thing that was cheap to do and is a surprisingly good tool was to add an Amazon $50 ''pet camera'' to the console that is aimed at the Renogy shunt battery meter. This means that I can see everything displayed on that meter from my cell phone instantly from many miles away. It has audio and I can hear if cooling fans are running. The higher dollar Victron Bluetooth smart shunt unit can't even read from just outside my shop 20 feet away. This panel uses the Eye4 pet cam but 2 other separate battery/inverter ststems have Reolink pet cams. Both good. And the advantage of having the Renogy battery meter is that you have all of the info on one screen at the same time without having to be there and scroll thru menus. I build units to be flexible and have components on hand in case something fails. I hope this helps.

The 6000 inverter charger needs the 240 volt generator to function. sounds like you have a nice system.
